Welcome to the official Budokan Dojo website.
The Dojo was founded by Sensei Ian Applegarth (5th Dan Iaido, 3rd Dan Jodo, 1st Dan Kendo) in March 1995 but is now run by Bill Davison (5th Dan Iaido, 3rd Dan Jodo, 2nd Dan Kendo) and myself, Lee Mountain (5th Dan Iaido, 2nd Dan Jodo)
Here at the Budokan Dojo we study three types of martial arts which are Iaido, Jodo and Kendo but we also study other subjects such as Tachi Uchi no Kurai, Mizoguchi-ha Itto Ryu and Bojutsu.
For Iaido and Jodo the club is based in The Education Village, Darlington practising on a Thursday night or the Sports Hall at New College Durham on a Monday night. Both are two hour sessions from the times of 7 - 9 pm. For those who wish to come along, please aim to arrive half an hour earlier so that we can start promptly and get warmed up before we begin.
For Kendo, we only practise in Darlington and this is on Tuesday nights 7-9pm. Please Note - kendo is temporarily cancelled at the moment until a new venue is found
